Classmate Spell Bee Competition is a spelling competition for students from Class 5 to 9, of 10 to 16 years age boys and grils across India.
It is an 'Initiative by Radio Mirchi' and is reported (and is not independently audited data) to have been conducted across 30 cities in India, with more than 750 schools and more than 2,50,000 students participating in the contest. It is understood to be supported by The Times of India.
Classsmate Spell Bee competition has the following four levels. Do update on this each year, as there may be changes through the years.
# Level 1 : Participation Test
An online MCQ test of identify / select the correct spelling of 75 words in 10 minutes.
# Level 2 : City Finals
The students are selected for this level based on their Level 1 performance.
An online MCQ test of identify / select the correct spelling of 75 words in 7.5 minutes.
# Level 3 : Semi Finals
The students are selected for this level based on their Level 2 performance.
This level has two rounds unlike the previous two levels.
Round 1 : An online MCQ test of identify / select the correct spelling of 60 words in 10 minutes.
Those who clear the first round get to participate in the second round of this level.
Round 2 : An online MCQ test of identify / select the correct spelling of 45 words in 10 minutes.
# Level 4 : National Finals
The students with the top 16 scores across the country of Level 3 qualify for this level, the National Finals.
Round 1 : The 16 students are divided into groups of 4 each.
Round 2 : The winners from each of the four groups compete in The Grand Finale.
The winner of round 2 of this last level of the competition is declared as the "Classmate SpellBee National Champion" for the season.
The National Finals of Classmate Spell Bee competition is telecast.
Please note the following :
## If a student belongs to a city that is not covered by Classmate Spell Bee's in Level 1, the the child can participate by taking the Level 1 online test. The child has to choose his/ her preferred city for participation in Level 3 (if he/she gets qualified for the same).
## Classmate SpellBee Competition winner rewards / prizes :
Grand Prize Winner : National Champion of Classmate SpellBee gets grand cash prize of Rs 2,00,000. And also gets an all expense paid trip along with a parent to witness the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington D.C.
Semifinalists : Each of the four semi-finalists get cash prize of Rs 50,000.
Top 16 participants : Each of them get to exhibit their skills on National Television i.e. on The Discovery Channel, Discover Kids and Discovery Tamil.
